IT solutions provider, HP (Hewlett Packard) has set up a centre of excellence at Xavier University, which today announced to have put all its operations on digital platform, thus claiming itself to be the first fully digitised university in the country.
"The centre of excellence will provide an opportunity for the students to work on the latest technologies in line with the industry standards for cloud mobility, security and so on," said M Lakshmi Narayan Rao, chief technology officer (CTO) - Cloud, Mobility and Big Data Solutions, Hewlett-Packard India Sales Pvt Ltd. The students will also be certified, which will be recognised by the industry, he added.
Similarly, IBM and Xavier University have collaborated to set up an IBM Business Analytics Lab in the new university campus for enhancing the skill of faculties and students in the area of Business Analytics. The IBM provides curriculum content for courses under its Career Education Program. Using the Business Analytics lab and a curriculum developed jointly by the IBM and university faculty, Xavier University plans to launch student programs on Business Analytics in association with IBM in the upcoming academic year. Xavier University said, it has introduced Xavier One Portal, a one-stop platform for all IT needs of the institute, which provides a single entry for tasks spread across various departments including administration.
The university has designed 'Xavier Cloud' that will facilitate the seamless flow of information for research and educational needs of teachers and students respectively. "With this launch the entire Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is now online. The staff management, library, placement, admissions, administration, connection between the campuses will now be on the cloud. Personalized learning is also available online for the students," said Father Paul Fernandes, Vice Chancellor, Xavier University. Fernandes said, Xavier Digital University is the first of its kind in the country. The digitisation programme of the university was announced here today at a function, which was attended by Pradeep Maharathy, Odisha minister of agriculture, fisheries & animal resources and Arun Kumar Sahoo, minister of law and panchayati raj.
