Italian transmission system maker Carraro has set up a new research and development centre along with roll out of new transmission line at Ranjanagaon plant near Pune. The company has invested one million euros for this facility.
Carraro will be making transmission systems for tractors, agro and construction equipments form this plant. It has also launched agricultural transmissions system T10 range with annual capacity of 5000. The collective annual capacity of this plant is of 42000 units. Carraro India has laid the basis for production of range of tractor transmission systems is from 50 HP up to 120 HP.
The R & D centre includes 50 engineers and it is the only centre of Carraro outside Italy. Carraro is exporting 50 per cent of its production to other markets like Europe, US and Asia. Commenting on this, Enrico Carraro, chairman Carraro Group said, "India has confirmed our most optimistic expectations .When we started with Carraro India, in 1998, we had only sensed the potential of this area. Today, with over 1100 employees and a constantly expanding customer base, it is a certainty. Being able to rely on a solid R&D team in India means that we are able to conceive product solutions in tune with the needs of this geographical area. Start up of production in India of the advanced T10 transmissions, intended both for the home market and for other similar markets, makes an important statement about the company’s strategy to offer its customers the best service, to create value and not merely to reduce costs".
Carraro has production plants in Italy, India, Argentina, China, Germany and the United States. Compared to the first Carraro Technologies India installation, opened in Pune in 2006 with the aim of localizing part of the Group engineering network.
