OBO Bettermann's Rs 80 cr facility near Chennai

New facility will cater both domestic and export markets

OBO Bettermann, an Indo-German joint venture company, which manufactures electrical cable management and lightning protection products, will be inaugurating a new facility near Chennai.

Speaking to reporters today, OBO Bettermann India’s managing director S Gopa Kumar said the manufacturing unit was located at SIPCOT in Oragadam Industrial area. The company has so far invested around Rs 80 crore in the facility. It expects the facility to generate Rs 30 crore in the first year of operations, and Rs 70 crore in the next year.

“Further investments are under finalisation, which will enhance the total investment to 25 million Euro by 2017,” Kumar said, adding that a business strategy was in place to boost the revenues to 10 million Euro by 2015 and 25 million Euro 2020.
 

Over 3,000 different kinds of metal and plastic products for electrical cable management, besides products for lightning protection will be manufactured at the new facility for both domestic and export markets, he said.

To start, with the company is looking at Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and West Asian countries for exports. A testing and a research and development centre will also be set up, going forward, Kumar said.
