Tata group chairman Ratan Tata has won an award for 'Responsible Capitalism' for demonstrating social responsibility as an integral part of his commercial success. He became the eighth head of an international corporation to receive the award. Princess Royal of Britain presented the award to Tata in London yesterday at a special ceremony attended by over 250 business leaders, parliamentarians, and ambassadors. At the ceremony, Lord Woolf, former Lord Chief Justice and chairman of the judging panel, said: "Ratan Tata has demonstrated how it is possible to combine being an extremely successful leader of a highly innovative companies with social responsibility and concern for the environment and well-being of the local communities in which those companies operate around the globe." The award for responsible capitalism was instituted by multidisciplinary international affairs organisation first in 2000 to honour business leaders who have excelled by achieving commercial success and demonstrating social responsibility. |
