Sembcorp readies second power plant in AP

Sembcorp Gayatri Power commissioned its second 660 MW of its 1,320 MW coal-based power plant in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, thereby completing a key project in its portfolio. The first unit was completed in the fourth quarter of 2016. This comes at a time when private sector is pulling away from the conventional power generation sector due to stagnant power demand.
Sembcorp Gayatri Power is a joint venture between Sembcorp Utilities a subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries and NCC Infrastructure Holdings Limited which is promoted by NCC Limited and Gayatri Energy Ventures a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gayatri Projects Limited.
