BS Reporter Chennai
Su-Kam Power Systems, a power back-up solutions provider, is expected to invest around Rs 60-crore in installing solar rooftop systems on 27,000 houses across Tamil Nadu.

The company has taken up the project under the 2013-14 scheme.

Meanwhile, Su-Kam announced it would complete the installation of solar power systems on the rooftops of 12,700 houses by the end of May. Spread across seven districts in the state, these systems are being set up under the chief minister's solar-powered green house scheme, launched by the Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA).

It has so far invested around Rs 30 crore in setting up solar systems across 11,400 houses, while the target would be achieved this month.

"The installation of the phase starting from May is expected to be completed by November this year. The investment for the planned projects under the 2013-14 scheme would be doubled," said Ashish Sethi, vice president of solar projects, Su-Kam.

Solar power system contributes around 25 per cent to the total business of Su-Kam, and its target is to grow it to 50 per cent of the total turnover, he added.
