We want Royal Enfield to be a global brand, says Siddhartha Lal

The MD & CEO of Eicher Motors is going to relocate to the UK for a year to scale up global operations

In an effort to focus on the global strengthening plans of the Royal Enfield brand, Eicher Motors Ltd's MD and CEO Siddhartha Lal said that he will be relocating to London temporarily.

Lal said currently global operations contribute around 5% of company's total revenue. "We see a good potential and it can grow substantially," said Lal. The company is looking at South East Asian countries. Traditional markets for the company have been UK, Europe, Japan, Australia for the last few decades, with the most recent addition being Colombia," he said.

On his decision to relocate to UK, Lal said that for one year he decided to relocated to UK to support the company's global operations and also set up a new centre in UK, which will manufacture products for global consumption.

He said in the next one decade the company wants to be a global player. "Currently we are an Indian company, we want to be a global player and the focus will be 250-750 cc and we would like to play on this and want to make an impact and grow the segment," said Lal, who added the company would invest Rs 500 crore on new products and development of new centres.

 

On the upcoming new technology centres, including one at Chennai and a satellite centre at UK, Lal said the company is progressing well.

The company is strengthening its traditional markest of Europe and US and the new market of Colombia.

For the first time, the company's turnover crossed Rs 1,000 crore mark in a quarter, which has been the company's best ever quarter.
