BPCL announces Rs 75 lakh cash award, promotion for P V Sindhu

Shuttler, who is currently assistant manager (sports) at company's Hyderabad office, will be promoted to deputy manager

State-owned Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) on Saturday announced a cash award of Rs 75 lakh and promotion for P V Sindhu, the country's first-ever woman silver medallist in the Olympic Games.

Sindhu has been working with BPCL since 2013 and is currently Assistant Manager (Sports) at its Hyderabad office.

Announcing a cash award of Rs 75 lakh for her fleet, BPCL Chairman and Managing Director S Varadarajan said Sindhu would be promoted to deputy manager.

"Pusarla V Sindhu, a BPCL sports person and ace shuttler of India has scripted a new chapter in Indian sporting history by being India's first woman to win a silver medal in the Olympics with a stunning display of talent, grit and grace," the company stated.
 
Sindhu, who hails from Hyderabad, has been associated with BPCL ever since she was 14 years old and joined the company in July 2013.
