Four accused in Mumbai gang-rape case sent to judicial custody till Sep. 19

Another minor accused was produced before a juvenile court earlier on August 30, from where he was sent to a juvenile remand home

Four accused in the gang-rape case of a photojournalist were on Thursday remanded in judicial custody till September 19 by a magistrate court here.

Defence lawyer for the four accused, Moin Khan, said that the Mumbai Police had asked for an extension of remand, but the judge sent them to judicial custody.

"Four of the five accused were presented before the court today and the magistrate has sent them to judicial custody till September 19," he said.

Another minor accused was produced before a juvenile court earlier on August 30, from where he was sent to a juvenile remand home in Dongri.

 

The incident took place on August 22 in Lower Parel area where the 23-year-old woman, an intern with an English Magazine, had gone for an assignment.

According to police, the men tied up the friend who was accompanying her and raped the woman.

The victim, who was admitted to Jaslok Hospital, has recovered from her injuries and has been sent home.
