Modi to interact with Eric Schmidt via Google Hangout

Schmidt is in India to participate in Google Big Tent Activate Summit 2013

Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi will be interacting with chairman of Google Inc. Eric Schmidt via Google+ Hangout on March 21.

Schmidt is in India to participate in Google Big Tent Activate Summit 2013, where Modi has been invited to speak on  ‘Technology in Politics’.

"Before addressing the summit Modi will interact with Eric Schmidt, the Chairman of Google Inc. via Google+ Hangout," an official release said on Tuesday. The chief minister will be addressing the summit via Google Hangout, it added.

"Modi will talk about how latest technology has brought a qualitative difference in the lives of the people at large," the release further said.
 
In addition to Schmidt, others participating in the summit include Alan Rusbridger, the editor-in-chief of British newspaper the Guardian and Stephanie Cutter, who served as the deputy director of President Barrack Obama’s 2008 and 2012 campaigns.

The release claimed that Modi is the only chief minister to be invited to speak at the summit.

Big Tent Summits are hosted by Google which bring together the finest minds, political leaders, thinkers to talk about a variety of issues.  Such Big Tent Summits have been held across the world including in New York City, London, Berlin, Madrid, Nairobi, Moscow, Seoul to name a few.

This summit on March 21 will focus on the influence of the web in shaping India’s future, in the areas of business and economics, politics and governance, culture and media, and education.

"Modi firmly believes that technology is nothing but easy, effective and economical governance, which inspired him to infuse the working of the state administration with latest technology," the release said.

The Gujarat chief minister, who was elected for his third consecutive term in December 2012, has been very active on all leading social media. Besides he also has a You Tube Channel where his speeches are uploaded.

On August 31, 2012 Modi had interacted with people via Google Hangout, which was viewed by four million people either over various media across the globe.
