Bidyananda Barkakoty was today unanimously elected as the chairman of North Eastern Tea Association (NETA) for the third consecutive term.
NETA is a tea producers' association headquartered at Golaghat, in Upper Assam, and is a constituent member of the Joint Forum and Consultative Committee of Planters' Association (CCPA).
Barkakoty is a mechanical engineer by qualification and a tea planter by profession.

"Bidyananda Barkakoty has been playing a very important and useful role in seeking a greater collaborative role with various associations towards strengthening the cause of the development of tea industry in Assam. His continuation as chairman NETA would help not only NETA but the entire tea industry", said Manoj Jalan, chairman, Bharatiya Cha Parishad (BCP).
"We are very happy that Bidyananda Barkakoty has been elected as Chairman NETA for the third consecutive term. He has done very good work in the last two terms and we are confident that he will continue to do so for the betterment of the tea industry", said Rajib Barooah, chairman, Assam Tea Planters' Association (ATPA).
