The Jain Commission of inquiry, probing the conspiracy aspect of Rajiv Gandhi assassination, is likely to submit an interim report to the government by next month end.
The commission chairman, Justice Milap Chand Jain, said that the report was under preparation and the panel was contemplating to submit it before the expiry of its present term on August 31. The chairman denied reports that the document would contain names of individuals or agencies allegedly linked with the assassination or the conspiracy behind it.
Commission sources had earlier hinted that the interim report would be based on the arguments of different parties during the panels hearings.
The report is likely to cover crucial aspects of the inquiries made by the commission relating to its terms of reference, the sources said. The commission has categorised the probe into three aspects the first relating to the sequence of events leading to the assassination, the second relating to the facts and circumstances of the assassination and the last on the actual conspiracy aspect.
