Tushita Mittal of Tehelka magazine has been given the Chameli Devi Jain award for Outstanding Woman Mediaperson for 2012. Mittal, a journalist with the magazine’s Kolkata bureau, has been selected for her reports of life in interior Bengal, Orissa and Chhattisgarh affected by bloody civil strife, naxal and vigilante violence.
The announcement was made by coordinator of the Media Foundation, B G Verghese. The award was instituted in memory of Gandhian and freedom fighter L C Jain’s mother.
