IIM-K signs MoU with Plymouth University

MoU part of Institute's effort to achieve greater level of global outreach

Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Plymouth University, United Kingdom on April 29, 2013. The MoU was part of the Institute's effort to achieve greater level of internationalisation.

IIMK Director Debashis Chatterjee and  Troy Heffernan, the International Programmes Director of Plymouth University signed the MoU on April 29th at IIMK Campus. Prof. This MoU will facilitate exchange of students and faculty members. It also helps academics from both the institutions to collaborate in research projects.

IIMK plans to accelerate its international activity by establishing tie-ups with leading business schools all over the world. Currently IIMK has exchange partnerships with twenty nine International Business Schools. These include BEM Bordeaux Management School France, Bocconi University Italy, European Business School Germany, Leeds University Business School UK, EDHEC School of Management France, Sungkyunkwan University South Korea, Copenhagen Business School Denmark, University of Bradford UK and Birmingham University UK, said in the press release.
 

The student exchange programme at IIMK has shown a sharp growth this year. The institute witnessed 100 percent increase in the number of students participating in the International Exchange Programme. Eighty students from IIMK will be attending a semester at partner institutes and around 50 students from partner institutions will be visiting IIMK in the academic year 2013-14.

Nandakumar M K, Chairperson of International Exchange Programme of IIMK said that the students participating in the exchange programme will gain international exposure and will get an opportunity to understand the business practices in the host country. They will also develop a good understanding of the cross-cultural issues in management, he said in a statement.
