Pune univ launches MTech in aviation for Rs 55 lakh

Course is a tie-up with Germany's Fashschule Feer Luftahrgeng Fuhres, an aviation company

University of Pune (UoP) said it has launched a new two-year post-graduation course in aviation starting September.

This course which is an M.Tech in Aviation comes a result of a tie-up which the University has signed with Germany's Fashschule Feer Luftahrgeng Fuhres (FFLF), an aviation company.

The cost of this course is Rs  55 lakh.

Eligibility for this post graduation is BE or B.Tech. Students will get to attend  on-site aviation training including 800 hours of flying at the institute's facility in Germany for three semesters and one semester will be theory study at the UoP's department of technology.

Onsite training in Germany will also include training on soft skills, ground duties  and team building activities.

Post the onsite training, the students will be tested by Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for the purpose of securing a flying license with which the trained pilots can fly in Indian skies and some European countries. Flying in European skies will be subject to an approval from the German counterpart of the DGCA.

"Apart from pilot training, this M.Tech (Aviation) course covers various engineering aspects to facilitate job opportunities in flying as well as ground engineering and allied services, " University's vice-chancellor W N Gade said.

This course will have 24 seats in all.
