A Brazilian construction worker had reportedly fallen to his death at the Sao Paulo stadium where the FIFA World Cup is due to start on June 12, bringing the total number of fatalities at the new stadium to three.
Brazil's preparations for the World Cup have been marred by accidents and missed deadlines while a total of eight men have already died working in the stadiums for the tournament.
According to the BBC, Fabio Hamilton da Cruz suffered fatal injuries when he down from a height of 25 feet from a stand while installing temporary seats at the south of the Sao Paulo Arena, where two workers were killed when a crane collapsed in November.
FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke said on Twitter that he is deeply saddened by Cruz's death at Sao Paolo, adding that his thoughts and condolences are with his family and colleagues.
In a statement, the firm that had hired the employers of Cruz, WDS Construcoes, said that he was still alive when taken to a hospital although he died from his injuries hours later.
