The Union Cabinet on Wednesday expressed its grief for the Bodo militant attacks in the Kokrajhar and Sonitpur districts of Assam, where, according to latest reports, the 64 people have been killed.

"The Cabinet that met today under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister paid homage to the victims of the cowardly attack on Assam yesterday. All members observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect for the victims," Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley told the media.

On Tuesday, banned outfit National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) attacked innocent villagers, following which indefinite curfew has been imposed in five police station areas of Sonitpur district.

According to reports, the State Home department has instructed the administration of all the districts to remain alert.

The world heritage site, Manas National Park has also been closed for three days in a bid to intensify operation against militants.
