DD Bharati to promote Hindustani classical music, Indian imprints

In the last week of September, DD Bharati will be presenting three new series. The first one is titled "Jewels of Hindustani Classical Music'', a programme that will once again bring alive those stalwarts of Hindustani vocal and instrumental music who are alive and are legends.

The first telecast will be on September 26 at 9 p.m., and will be followed with repeat telecast at 5 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The programme will feature Begum Parveen Sultana of the Patiala Gharana, Vidushi Kishori Amonkar of the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana and Pandit Jasraj.

The second programme to be aired is titled 'Indian Imprints', and will be telecast on September 23 at 5 p.m., with a repeat telecast at 1 a.m. and 9 a.m.

 

'Indian Imprints,' is a documentary film directed by S. Krishnaswamy. The five countries chosen for this 18-episode TV serial are Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. It was filmed in over 100 locations.

DD Bharati will also be telecasting another documentary titled 'The Last Refuge' on September 25 at 6 p.m., with a repeat next day at 2 a.m. and 10 a.m.

The film is a heart rendering highlight of the plight of the Golden Langur, which is on the brink of extinction in the Chakrasilla Wildlife Sanctuary in particular.

It is an effort in general to sensitize people against the consequences of forest destruction and species extinction. This 30 minute documentary is directed by Goutam Bora.

A tribute will also be paid to Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay on September 25 at 10 p.m., with a repeat next day at 6 a.m. and 2 p.m.
