A former girlfriend of Oscar Pistorius has testified at his murder trial that the Paralympian had once fired his gun from his car sunroof after becoming angry with police.

An emotional day in court then climaxed with testimony from a security guard shocked to find the Blade Runner carrying a dying Reeva Steenkamp, whom the double amputee sprinter shot on the early hours of Valentine's Day last year at his luxury Pretoria home.

According to the BBC, model Samantha Taylor said that she was just 17 when she started dating Pistorius and that they broke up in November 2012 after he took Steenkamp to the South African Sports Awards.

Taylor, who was called to testify regarding a lesser count relating to the alleged reckless handling of a firearm, said that the shooting incident happened when Pistorius became angry after a police officer stopped him for speeding, saw the gun on the car seat and told him it could not be left there.

She also claimed that the athlete laughed around the time he actually fired the gun, adding that Pistorius is a man 'who could get very angry' and that he 'kept his gun on him all the time'.

Taylor, who claimed being familiar with the Pistorius house where Steenkamp was shot, said that on at on least two occasions, her former boyfriend woke her up to check if she had also heard a noise, adding that he would grab the gun then go to investigate whenever he heard a strange noise in the night.

Early in her testimony, Taylor broke down while discussing two break-ups with the athlete, saying that Pistorius had twice been unfaithful, with the relationship finally ending when he 'cheated' on her with 'Steenkamp

Pistorius denies both murdering Steenkamp and shooting from his car, the report added.
