The Liverpool house where John Lennon grew up with his parents and grandparents has been sold off for 480,000 pounds, almost double its asking price, at an auction.
The three-bedroom red-bricked terrace house was bought by an unidentified American buyer via telephone at a sale held at the Cavern Club, the Mirror reported.
The modest property, which has two lounges, family kitchen and bathroom, and a back yard, is also where the Beatles star is believed to have penned the song 'One After 909' later in his life.
