A coordinating office of former Sri Lankan president and Kurunegala district parliamentarian Mahinda Rajapaksa was opened at Nelum Mawatha, Battaramulla, this morning.
The media unit of the former president said the office will facilitate coordination of political affairs and public relations.
The opening of the office follows the recent announcement that the 'joint opposition', the group of Member of Parliament loyal to former president Rajapaksa, will form a new political party under his leadership.
Reportedly, a meeting of a large number of parliamentarians loyal to the former president has taken place at his residence in Mirihana on Monday night to discuss the final details of the new party.
The details of the party have been finalized at the meeting.
