Tottenham Hotspur has advanced to the last eight of the Capital One Cup despite a 2-2 draw with Hull City after they won 8-7 on penalties to subdue their rivals at White Hart Lane on Wednesday.

Andre Villas-Boas' side has now won nine of their last 11 games, after beating the same opponents three days earlier in the league.

According to the Mirror, despite Spurs player Gylfi Sigurdsson opening the scoring on 16 minutes, keeper Brad Friedel incensed the fans of the club by gifting Hull both their goals in normal time.

However, Spurs substitute Harry Kane made himself the toast of Tottenham with his first goal for 22 months, despite Paul McShane nodding home in extra time to give the visitors the lead for the first time

The report mentioned that Friedel redeemed himself in the penalty shootout, with Hull's Ahmed Elmohamady being sufficiently unsettled by the fans during the nerve-shredding spot-kick marathon to send his effort against Friedel's legs at 8-7.
