WB declassifies cabinet papers from 1938 to1947

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said that her government has declassified the state cabinet papers from 1938 to 1947 and urged other governments to do the same.

"West Bengal Government has today declassified state cabinet papers from 1938 till 1947. It will be now available in the information centre, state library and public archives," Banerjee said at a press conference.

"We hope the stand taken by our government regarding declassification of files will be adopted by other governments also," she added.

The West Bengal Government had earlier this month declassified 64 files related to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

The 12,744 pages of the 64 files were digitised in the form of compact discs (CDs). The original files will be kept at the Kolkata Police Museum and would be open for public viewing.
