An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale struck the Philippines' Luzon island on Saturday without any reports of casualties, damage or a tsunami alert.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) said the earthquake's hypocenter was at a depth of 17 km, reports Efe news.
The tremor's epicentre was situated 58 km northwest of Pandan, on Catanduanes island, and 319 km east of Manila.
The Philippine seismological agency said there was a possibility of aftershocks.
The Tsunami Warning System in the Pacific has not issued a tsunami alert.
