Iran has unveiled a domestically produced version of a US drone it captured almost two-and-half years ago, a media report said Monday.
The replica of the RQ-170 stealth drone was unveiled Sunday at an exhibition at the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Forces' Central Command, Press TV reported Monday.
The unveiling was attended by Islamist Revolution leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The US RQ-170 stealth drone was re-engineered by IRGC experts in about two years.
The RQ-170 is an unmanned stealth aircraft which was downed Dec 4, 2011, with minimal damage by the Iranian Army's electronic warfare unit while it was flying over the Iranian city of Kashmar, some 225 km from the Afghan border.
Exhibited along with the US drone replica were other Iranian drones, including Shahed 129 and 125.
