Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat Education has bagged the prestigious Nelson Mandela Peace Award for exceptional work in the field of education of the girl child.
The award consisting of a momento and citation of excellence was presented to Vishakha Tripathi, Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat Education president, by parliament member Shripad Yesso Naik, who is former minister of state of home affairs in the central government, at a ceremony here, also attended by Goa Deputy Chief Minister Francis D Souza.
Organised by the Economic Growth Society of India, the award ceremony honoured various individuals and organisations for significant contribution in the field of economic and social growth of the nation.
Among others whose contributions were recognised were Ismail bin Haj Kassim, eminent speaker and motivational guru, spiritual healer and exponent in vibrational energy, as also Saurabh Garg whose efforts to create awareness about Thalassemia and social work was recognised and appreciated.
G.S. Sachdeva, general secretary of the Economic Growth Society of India, said the awards have been instituted with the goal of honouring individuals and organisations that have made selfless contribution towards the growth of India.

Specific mention of JKP Education was made in the pre-award national conference in which the speakers lauded the efforts of the institution in female education.
More than 5,000 girls from pre-primary to post-graduate level are receiving free education through institutions located in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh.
In addition to free education, girl students receive free transportation, including free bicycles for students who travel long distances, along with free uniforms, school bags, and other school-related requirements.
The aim is to remove any obstacle to the girl's education that is likely to be induced by poverty, said the institution guided by Tripathi.
The efforts of JKP education have been recognised in the past. It has received Rajiv Gandhi Global Excellence Award, Nari Shakti Award of Jagran group, and Mother Teresa Excellence Award.
