Lalu emissary meets Nitish after differences

RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh had earlier opposed projection of Nitish Kumar as chief ministerial candidate of a RJD-JD-U alliance

An emissary of RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Wednesday met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to sort out differences over forging an alliance ahead of assembly elections.

After the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) refused to compromise over the choice of Nitish Kumar as the chief ministerial candidate, RJD legislator Bhola Yadav met the chief minister at his residence here.

Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh had earlier publicly opposed the projection of Nitish Kumar as the chief ministerial candidate of a RJD-JD-U alliance.

Bhola Yadav had worked as a private secretary to Lalu Prasad as well as his wife Rabri Devi for years. He is considered close to Lalu Prasad.

Bhola Yadav told the media that Raghuvansh Prasad Singh's statement on Nitish Kumar was his personal view.

"Talks are going on between the RJD and the JD-U for an alliance. We are hopeful that everything will be sorted out," he said.

On Tuesday, the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) president in Bihar, Vashisht Narain Singh, said that Nitish Kumar would indeed be the chief ministerial candidate of an anti-BJP alliance.

The Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party are also backing Nitish Kumar.
