Sanjeev Marik new Odisha police chief

Odisha Saturday appointed Sanjeev Marik as the state's new director general of police, shifting incumbent Prakash Mishra to head the state roadways corporation.

A 1981 batch Indian Police Service officer, Marik, 59, at present special director general of police (headquarters).

Mishra, 58, has been posted as chairman and managing director (CMD) of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC), a senior official of the chief minister's office told IANS.

Although it was not immediately clear what prompted the state government to shift Mishra, the development came a day after a section of media reported that he would be appointed special secretary, internal security in the union home ministry.
