All the scorn that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had to endure after sporting the controversial pinstripe monogrammed bandhgala suit is set to peter out. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi had taunted Modi, asking how could anyone who wore such an expensive suit care for the poor, but he seems to have spoken too soon. With a Surat-based textile businessman bidding Rs 1.21 crore at an auction on day one, the Prime Minister's dream of generating funds for the ambitious 'Clean Ganga Project' is set to materialise. This should effectively silence Modi's critics who had lambasted him and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
