A Bollywood cliche, "Mere paas maa hain" (I have a mother), which defines the power of the mother, has come to the rescue of corporate honchos facing trial for wrongdoing. Last week, while pleading with the judge to be kind with his sentencing, Satyam founder B Ramalinga Raju, who was found guilty in a multi-crore accounting fraud, said he had to take care of his aged mother. Last year, Sahara chief Subrata Roy had cited his mother's illness as a reason for not appearing before the apex court.
