4 arrested with over 1,000 fake certificates

Four persons have been arrested for allegedly running a fictitious university and forging educational certificates with over 1,000 fake documents, police said today.

On receiving specific inputs, the staff of Commissioner's Task Force (West Zone) Team raided three branches of the Hyderabad Educational and Research Centre here yesterday and arrested four persons with 1,052 fake educational documents.

The arrested were identified as Abdul Sattar and Mohd Javid, who worked as counselors at the institute, and security guards K Narsing Rao and Shaik Ahmed, police said.

Another absconding accused Syed Afsaruddin maintains educational institutions in the name of Hyderabad Educational and Research Centre with websites - www.Hyderc.Com, www.Golcondavidyaparishad.Com, www.Gnuedu.Co.In, and www.Noise.Co.In, they said.
 

Police said Afsaruddin declared himself as Director of the institutions at their respective websites.

He along with the arrested accused gave advertisements in newspapers offering admissions in various courses under several streams. "These institutes are neither recognised nor affiliated to any university under UGC," they said.

The accused were charging Rs 18,000 for a fake degree, Rs 24,500 for an engineering certificate and Rs 15,000 for diploma certificates.
