An eight-year-old boy was killed and 40 others, including 24 women and six children, were injured today when their truck overturned near a village here, police said.
The victims were on their way to attend a mass marriage function under the Chief Minister Kanyadaan Scheme when the mishap occurred, they said.
The driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a turn following which it turned turtle near Chitora, about 25 kms from the district headquarters.
The deceased was identified as Ubez Khan, police said, adding that six of the injured persons were referred to Bhopal for treatment while the others were admitted in the district hospital.
