A police constable attached to the MFC police station at Kalyan has been arrested by the Thane unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.50 lakh, the ACB said here today.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACB) Jairaj Chapria, told PTI that police constable Balkrishna M Ingle (52) was attached to the Dombiivli police station between October 2011 and March 2012.
During this period there a case was registered against the complainant and her husband by their daughter-in-law under Section 498-A at the police station. In order to "help" the accused, the constable allegedly demanded Rs 1.50 lakh, the ACB official said.

On March 23, 2012, the constable allegedly accepted Rs 1 lakh as the second installment, before which he had already accepted of Rs 50,000 from the complainant.
During interrogation, the constable accepted that he had accepted Rs 1.50 lakh from the complainant.
Hence, an offence was registered against him at the Dombivili police station under Sections 7, 13(1)(d) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, the ACB said.
The constable was arrested by the ACB today after registering an offence, the ACB said.
