Inspector General of Police (Civil Defence) Amitabh Thakur today recommended action against Chief Warden of Civil Defence here after a probe found him guilty of employing children to clean the Hindon river bank here.

"In the investigation, the Civil Defence Chief Warden has been found guilty," Thakur said.

He also said that a recommendation under Section 6 of Civil Defense Act 1968 has also been made to District Magistrate to sack Chief Civil Defense warden.

IG Thakur told reporters that prima facie all the allegations levelled against the officials of Ghaziabad Civil Defence are true.

A report has been submitted to the District Magistrate, Senior Superintendent of Police and District Labour Commission of Ghaziabad to start action against the delinquent civil defence officials for engaging child labourers and supervising the "operation clean up' at 'Harnandi Ghat'.

During the investigation, some child labourers told that they all were paid a paltry sum Rs 200.
