Azure Power has commissioned 5 MW capacity solar plant in Sarkaritala, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan to electrify the border posts around the region.
The company signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI)to supply power to the border outposts for 25 years, the company said in a press release.
SECI is the designated agency for implementation of Solar PV Projects for electrification of the Indo-Pak Borders.

With commissioning of the project, Azure Power becomes the first private solar power producer in the country to supply electricity to border outposts under Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission policy.
Considering the complexity of the project, Azure Power delivered the project in a commendable time frame of two months, it said.
"This is an excellent example of the many exceptional uses that solar power can be put to", Inderpreet Wadhwa, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Azure Power said.
Recently, Azure commissioned a 100 MW capacity plant in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, the largest solar power project under the National Solar Mission.
