The signing of MoU between Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) and Gujarat government at the recently concluded Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2015 will speed up the process of construction of the new cricket stadium here, state Finance and Industries Minister Saurabh Patel said.

The process of acquiring land in Kotambi village near here for the new international cricket stadium is almost over after the district administration gave green waiver to acquire a remaining portion for land three months ago, Patel told PTI while inaugurating the pre-launching event of VADFEST (international arts and culture festival).

BCA Secretary Anshuman Gaekwad said that the new stadium is being developed in an area of 29 acres and process of land purchase is almost done at a cost of Rs 21 crore.

The international cricket stadium project has been in limbo for more than a year as the district administration did not give permission for acquiring a large portion of land.
