Bees attack anti-Maoist cops in Visakhapatnam Agency area

Over seven anti-Maoist cops suffered bee stings while patrolling reserve forest areas near Maddigaruvu area under G K Veedhi mandal in the Agency area this morning, a senior police official said.

Special branch police inspector A Venkata Rao said that a swarm of bees descended upon the personnel when they were on routine combing operations in the Maddigaruvu area.

The seven injured cops were treated at a community health centre at Paderu in the Vizag Agency after which they were shifted to Vizag city for better medical aid, the police official said.

Combing operations have been intensified after Maoists hurged locals to observe Independence Day as a 'Black Day', he said.
 

The bees attacked the security personnel when they were returning to G Madugula from the remote areas, the police official said.
