Bodies of imam, woman found in south Kashmir

A 45-year-old imam and a young woman were found dead under suspicious circumstances in separate places in Anantnag and Pulwama districts of south Kashmir today, police said.

Habibullah Malik was found dead in a field near his house at village Bragam in Dooru area of Anantnag district late this afternoon, a police officer said, adding he had injury marks on head.

He said Malik was a prayer leader in a local mosque.

Police have registered a case and started investigation to ascertain the cause of his death, the officer said.

In another incident, the officer said, police recovered the body of a young woman from a stream in Kakapora area of Pulwama district this morning.
 

Abida Amin, a resident of Srinagar, had apparently met with an accident and fallen into the stream while returning from a function on her two-wheeler last evening, the officer said.

He said the woman was reportedly running a boutique. Inquest proceedings have been initiated, the officer said.
