Centre sanctions project for cleaning of Pamba river

The government today said it has sanctioned a project for cleaning of Pamba river under the National River Conservation Plan (NRCP).

"A Rs 18.45 crore project for abatement of pollution in river Pamba in Kerala has been sanctioned under NRCP," Environment minister Jayanthi Natarajan said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.

Rs 2.78 crore has already been released to the state government, she said.

Natarajan said no proposal has been received by her ministry for cleaning of Bharathapuzha river under NRCP.
