Congress today sought to bury attempts to exorcise the Bofors ghost ahead of elections saying all these "malicious insinuations have been found unfounded by courts and investigating agencies".
Seeking to debunk claims made by former CBI director A P Mukherjee in his new book on the issue, party spokesman Randip Singh Surjewala told reporters that the allegation should be judged on the "touchstone of moral decency" as Rajiv Gandhi was not alive to clarify or defend himself.
Besides, he said, the matter has been "closed" after being raised for the last 25 years before five successive national governments and all investigative agencies and by different courts.
