Rajya Sabha MP and Congress leader Hussain Dalwai today alleged that police officers investigating the Mohsin Shaikh murder case were trying to cover it up, and they should be dismissed for the failure to nab the masterminds of the crime.
"I met Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today and demanded that the police officials who have failed to nab the masterminds of murder should be sacked immediately as they are trying to hush up the case," Dalwai said, speaking to reporters here.
Shaikh, a 28 years old IT professional, was beaten to death in Pune's Hadapsar area by some members of a right-wing organisation on June 2 in the wake of tension triggered by some objectionable pictures of King Shivaji and the late Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on the Facebook.

Dalwai demanded that the investigation should be transferred to Crime Investigation Department (CID) so that it was completed speedily.
"The Chief Minister assured us that government will make the investigation into this unfortunate incident a priority. We were also told that the organisation behind this ghastly act and the people involved in spreading communal disharmony will be taught a lesson," he added.
He also sought more compensation for Shaikh's family.
"The state government has already given his parents a compensation of Rs 5 lakh. I requested the Chief Minister to give them additional Rs 5 lakh," Dalwai said.
"I have also requested him (CM) to provide police security to the complainants, the injured and the witnesses in the case," the MP said.
