Eight deer horns worth Rs five lakh were today seized from a forest area under the Valmiki Tiger Reserve in Bihar's West Champaran district, Forest Department sources said today.
Acting on a tip-off, the SSB and forest guards raided Gunauli forest area and seized the horns yesterday, Gunauli forest ranger Vinod Sharma said.
The smugglers, however, managed to escaped by taking advantage of darkness, he said.
The forest guards also seized logs of rosewood tree from Madanpur forest range worth Rs one lakh, Sharma said.
