Railways today decided to release over Rs 212 crore to convert the rail route between Dholpur and Sarmathura in Rajasthan to broad gauge.
Railway Minister C P Joshi gave green signal for disbursement of Rs 212.23 crore for the broad gauge conversion work in the 62-km-long Dholpur-Sarmathura section, a senior Railway Ministry official said.
Currently, the section has a narrow gauge rail line.

The Dholpur-Sarmathura rail route will be extended to Gangapur city to connect Dholpur directly to the Delhi-Mumbai grand truck route.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Minister of State for Railway Kotla Jayasurya Prakash Reddy had laid foundation stone for the Rs 2,000 crore project at Sarmathura in February this year. Foundation was also laid for extension of the rail route from Sarmathura to Gangapur city.
Railways is also setting up a coach factory in Bhilwara for which the Rajasthan government would provide land.
