Eight bodies have been found in streams near shantytowns on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, officials said.

Two of the deceased were found between May and June, and six others between July and August, according to the NGO that helps riverside and watershed clean up, the Committee to Fight Flooding and Pollution.

Volunteers who with the group work to clean up the Las Piedras and San Francisco streams in the Quilmes area south of the capital, made the grisly finds.

The causes of death were being investigated. The Quilmes mayor's office yesterday said at least two were from crimes that have been prosecuted.
