Empty coach catches fire at Jaisalmer station

An empty coach of Jaisalmer-Delhi intercity Express caught fire at Jaisalmer railway station this afternoon.

The fire later spread to two other coaches, but there was no loss to human life, officials said.

"The 14660 Jaisalmer-Delhi Intercity Express was parked at the platform today. Suddenly, coach number S2 caught fire, which spread to coaches S1 and S3," said PRO of North Western Railway's Jodhpur Division Gopal Sharma.

"The coaches were replaced and the train left for Jodhpur at 5.30 pm, after a delay of about 30 minutes from its scheduled departure," he said, adding, "We have constituted a committee of three officials to probe the incident.
