Excise official found dead in hotel room

An assistant excise officer posted at Bhopal was found dead in a hotel room here today.

Devicharan Singh, the officer, had arrived yesterday as a part of flying squad of the department. He and his two associates had checked into hotel Sheetal Palace, Kotwali police station in-charge Ravi Bhadoria said.

When his associate, Arvind Sagar, knocked on the door of Singh's room, there was no response. The hotel staff entered the room through a window and found him unconscious in the bathroom, Bhadoria said.

Prima facie the reason of death was cardiac arrest, according to the police. His body has been sent for autopsy.
