A unique exhibition of photographs based on Buddhist heritage by art-historian Benoy K Behl will be exhibited at Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum from January 27.
The photographs captured by Behl portray the birth and development of different Buddhist schools in India and their spread to several Asian countries.
Behl has clicked pictures in the several Asian countries like Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, China, Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan which signifies the journey of Buddhist history and culture from the times of Gautam Buddha.

"The exhibition shows the deeply shared Buddhist traditions of Asia. It is a journey through Buddhist history and culture, from the time of the life of the Buddha, through the development of Vajrayana and other Buddhist deities in Eastern and Western India, to the spread of these traditions to distant lands," says Behl.
The week-long exhibition provides a comprehensive perspective of the ancient monuments and art heritage of Buddhism.
The photographic prints which were taken in 19 regions have been made in Japan and promise to serve as a visual treat for the viewers.
35 large photographs taken over the past four decades by Behl, cover a wide range of the heritage of the Buddhist schools, Theravad and Mahayana-Vajrayana.
"From the time of Ashoka, Buddhism spread not only to all corners of India but also all over Asia. The religion and the art associated with it had a transforming effect wherever it reached. To capture this journey has been an overwhleming experience for me," he says.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju on January 27.
