The Telangana government has re-designed five irrigation projects in the state, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao said here today.
They are Pranahitha Chevella Sujala Sravanti, JCR Devadula lift irrigation scheme, Indiramma flood flow canal, P V Narasimha Rao Kanthanapally Sujala Sravanti and Sita Rama lift irrigation project, he said in reply to a query in the Legislative Assembly.
The re-designing of projects has been taken up to rectify certain critical deficiencies in terms of hydrology, location, unresolved inter-state aspects and storage requirements, he said.
Without re-designing, the viability of certain projects was not possible, he said.
The Central Water Commission advised the state government to review the quantum of divertible flows from Pranahita barrage at Tummidihetti, he said.

The CWC also advised to "increase the storage capacity of online reservoirs or construct artificial reservoirs to meet the storage requirements of the projects", he said.
The projects had been re-designed with an increased cost of Rs 61,489.92 crore for achieving an additional 30 lakh acres of new and also the stabilisation of "ayacut" (area under irrigation) under the concerned projects.
The re-designing would increase the scope for fisheries, tourism and inland water transportation due to rejuvenation of Godavari river for a length of 250 km, the minister added.
