Four panchaloha idols stolen from temple

Four Panchaloha idols were today found stolen from a temple in Kaundampalayam in the city.

The temple priest, who had gone to open the shrine early morning, found a door broken open, police said.

As he entered, he noticed that the offering box was also broken open and four Panchaloha idols--Namagiri Tayar, Nararsinha, Sridevi and Bhoodevi-- were missing from the sanctum sanctorum, they said.

The value of the idols was estimated at Rs two lakh, while the money in the offering box around Rs 50,000, police added.
