Gautam Shah to be Ahmedabad mayor

The Gujarat BJP today announced names of mayors and other office-bearers of six municipal corporations in the state where the party retained power in the recently-held local body elections.

Naranpura ward corporator Gautam Shah, considered to be close to the BJP president Amit Shah, would be the mayor of Ahmedabad. Pramodaben Sutaria has been named the deputy mayor and Pravin Patel the chairman of standing committee, a BJP release said.

Dr Jaiman Upadhyay has been selected as Rajkot mayor and Dr Darshita Vyas as his deputy. Pushkar Patel would be the standing committee chairman.

In Jamnagar, the party has selected Pratibha Kankhara for the mayor's post, Bharat Mehta as deputy mayor and Kamalasinh Rajput as standing committee chairman, the release said.
 

Nimuben Bambhaniya has been selected as Bhavnagar mayor, Manbha Mori as the deputy mayor and Suresh Dhandhaliya as standing committee chairman.

In Surat, Asmita Shiroya has been named as mayor, Shankar Chevli as deputy mayor and Rajesh Desai as standing committee chairman.

Bharat Dangar has been named as Vadodara mayor, Yogesh Patel deputy mayor and Dr Jigisha Sheth as the standing committee chairman.

The official appointment of these nominess would take place in the general body meetings of respective municipal corporations.
